Default Noise in Transmission? Anyone else have it?

I understand that in some cars with the clutch released in neutral you can hear the throw out bearing slightly. Maybe im being paranoid but I dont think I noticed it in my s2k before. Anyone else hear slight transmission noise when they let out the clutch in neutral??? Thanks.

its the diff, mine just blew and the dealer told me that noise was nothing to worry about. Take it to your dealer, document your visits and make sure they fix the problem because if it is your diff and it does let out they will raise hell in order to cover it under the warranty.

Assuming the car is in neutral and not moving, I fail to see how the diff comes into it.

Mine has a weird rattle around 4500 RPM under load. The engine speed just sets up some harmonic somewhere and it drives me nuts. It's done that since new and I suspect it's either the clutch (doubtful) or some heat shield or exhaust rattle (most likely).

i had that once i installed my exhaust, it was the exhaust heat sheild rubbing the exhaust, it sounded a lot worse than what the actual problem was.

I have that problem, too. I took it to the dealer and he told me it was the throw out bearing. I'm going to get a 30k service tomorrow so I'm gonna ask the mechanic that I trust this time.
