noise when reverse gear is engaged

Default noise when reverse gear is engaged
i got a small crackling noise when i reverse. its a new car to me but its three years old. anyone else had something like this? does it sound dangerous?

A crackling noise?

All cars (I think) have straight cut reverse gears, which gives you a kind of whirring sound when you back up. I've never heard of a crackling noise

if its a "snap or click" noise, its most likely your brake pads shifting whenever you change direction...
