noob question about the alarm

noob question about the alarm
when i lock the door hear the beep, i wait for 30 sec then when u reach inside through window and unlock and open the door the alarm doesnt go off. is this normal?

It is normal if you are pressing the lock button twice on the remote keyless entry. That means you probably don't have an alarm, you just have the keyless entry. The alarm is an option. Did you pay extra for that option?
