This also only works with the V1 and the bypass valve only works when the filter is submerged and a vaccuum is created, opening the bypass valve and allowing air in from top part of engine bay.... This keeps water from being ingested from the submerged filter.... No bypass valve the water would simply be sucked up....Just like a straw.

Either way, even if it was avalible for the V2 the bypass valve would not prevent the issue that seems to be at hand with the V2. It pools water in the elbow of the lowest bend. When you start your car, that pool of water is ingested into the engine. There is not enough resistance to pressure, that the valve would open.

I am still considering getting the V2 for my S. I had a V1 on my integra for 4 years and never had problems with it. Just make sure to plug the drain hole, fab an umbrella to go over the filter. (added bonus of new ones, drain plug in the intake tube itself.)
Cool! Thanks for the info

I think the previous posters meant to say a drain valve at the lowest part of the elbow. That's the mod to the V2 I think they were referring to. Just make one of these out of an old windshield washer fluid jug and you'll be fine. As long as you don't go through giant puddles.

Driving in the rain is NOT a problem PROVIDED the hole above the filter in the hood rain chanel is plugged. Duct tape does the trick.

For added protection I made a guard for the filter out of a plastic milk jug. Its better than the shield above since it protects all around the filter.

Do the homemade "umbrellas" work any better then the ones you buy ( http://www.cardomain.com/item/INJHS5000P )? And does it effect the intake at all? What's the difference besides the fact that you get one for free and you have to buy one?

Thanks for all the replies by the way

I'd just but the FIPK. No intake is going to surprise you on performance and the majority of people just but it for looks and sound. I'm not sure but I don't think I can feel the 2-3 hp that the best intake would add anyways. It's not worth it for me to risk hydro-lock when I can get almost the same sound with I'm sure the same performance with the K&N. I can't justify having the AEM to get a horse out of it versus having to buy a new motor because you ran through a puddle that was too big. It's all up to you bro. I just like having to do the least work and I'm sure the FIPK is cake to install and maintain vs. the AEM.

BTW: I'm getting the FIPK with the mugen vented hood so heat bogg won't be a serious question anymore. I live in AZ and I still won't risk having a cold-air. I see tegs and civics all the time who learn this issue the hard way.

EDIT: i was reading about comptech intakes and people said that they vibrate or rattle..is it just because they screws aren't tight enough? Or is it just the cai? and is there anyway of avoiding it?
