Default Not a happy camper

I dropped my car off at the local honda dealership to get my drivers side convertable latch replaced as the lil metal clip broke inside the latch. I pick the car up this evening and everything seems well. I notice the new latch and think nothing of it. I get halfway home and decide to drop the top since the sun had popped through the clouds. Well, as I look up to release the latch I notice a lil sunlight through my top and I investigate. Seems as if who ever replaced the latch today had a screwdriver slip and put a slit in my top right above the latch. I get pissed rather quickly and head right back towards the dealership greeted by two mechanics I know that work there. I show them my top and they say its gonna have to be replaced. The service manager had already left for the day so I ended leaving the car there once again and the manager will phone me tomm after he looks at it. The one time I take my car to the dealership and this happens. I just hope the manager doesnt give me a hard time and fixes what was damaged today. I was without the s for a day and it killed me : And now yet another day. Just venting a lil guys as I hate too see my car not in top shape. Im a nut when it comes to taking care of it. I just dont see why the tech didnt own up to what he had done instead leaving me to discover it. I wouldve been less upset if I was told ahead of time the damage that had occured.

wow that really sucks.. how big is the slit? if the entire top has to be replaced, it must be pretty large

Damn, that does suck. They should have put the top down and put something around the latch to protect the top. The tech was too lazy I guess.

Hope you get it fixed right the first time. Most likely the dealer will have a local upholstery shop to the top replacement.

I dont think I would be satisfied with it just being sewn up . I mean the top was perfect. I cleaned it every week and used 303 protectant on it. The slit is not "large" about an inch long and a quarter inch wide

But it'll probably grow. Was the top like that when you dropped it off? No. Was it your fault the screwdriver was left there? No. You have a right to expect the car to be returned to you undamaged. My opinion is they owe you a brand new top, not a "repaired" top.

They F'd it up, They should pay to fix it. I'd want a new top. A repaired one destroys resale value. I'd tell them exactly that.

If you get mad during this though and start talking lawyers early on, they'll tell you to F off. I'd be real pleasent right up to the time you call Honda Corporate and tell them about the dealer screwing up your top.

I surely wasnt a dick when i explained to the service dept when I came back. I def want a new top and I know I wouldnt be happy with anything less. They messed up and the top wasnt torn before having the vehicle serviced so I agree theres no reason why it shouldnt be replaced

It just worried me when I saw this quote. I surely dont want the hole stitched up and have to worry about future problems
