You need to contact the Honda regional service manager and let him/her know what happened, and have them authorize a completely new top installed on your car. Techs that mess up a customer's car and don't let their manager know about it, need to find another job. If this was an exotic, that tech would no longer be working there.

I wouldn't go that far, not at first. You'll make enemy's fast, if you pull out the big guns too soon. Let the dealer offer to replace it. If you don't get what you want, then go for the throat.

Good point. I got all upset just reading about it! Calm is always best.

Don't sweat it.. You should have no problem getting them to cover the replacement cost.

Most likely it will turn out to be a blessing in disguise since your top is already old...you will be getting a brand new one for free.

You can also request to have the service manager do a "walk around" when ever you are leaving the car over night. Similar to what a rental service would do before leaving you their car.

I had my top reaplcaed at a local dealer here in Vegas and i heard good things about them for tops...anyways i took my car in and they said they needed to order the part so i just left my car at the dealer for about a week.when i dropped the car off it had 24075 miles(reason i know this is because when i dropped the car off the guy asked me how many miles was on the car so i looked) when I picked it up it had 24080 miles on it...PLUS they ran into a parking stop with my bumper...(not upset about the bumper cause it was already messed up from before)but the extra 5 miles is kinda buging me.....they shouldn't be taking joy rides in the customers cars....

btw when i took my car in the guys were swarming arund my car saying they all really liked my setup..kinda had a strange feeling something was up.

peace
David

I don't think they were taking joyrides, they were probablly just took it for a test drive to make sure they weren't getting any wind noise after the new top was installed. After all, it was only 5 miles. Now 50 miles, then I'd be pissed.
