i dont see it on my GPW...

 

My guess- A little protection from the heat on that side only since the main exhaust stream is on this side before being split to the driver side which should be a little cooler.

 

This mod is also good for +10 rwhp!

Flux capasitor.

They didn't put them on AP1s and only began putting them on GPW AP2s for the obvious reasons. I do think they keep them regional as folks in the South have warmer weather and therefor no need as long as they don't relocate the car North or to Europe where they are manditory.
