NSX versus S2000
I've driven a couple of the 3.0L varieties. Absolutely love the car, but the only ones I could find for S2000 prices were in rather poor condition. I've never raced one against the other, but they both felt equally fast to me, with the advantage to the NSX at higher speeds. Getting the S2000 to 140 requires a bit of work, but it feels effortless with the NSX. (The noise from my S2000's intake and exhaust might have something to do with that, though.) Handing felt comparable, but I've never driven an NSX on the track. More room in the NSX interior, but both cars are very comfortable for me. If the '04 S2000 doesn't appeal to me much, I thinking a couple years old NSX might be a good alternative for me once my '00 S2000 wears out.
I drove a 91 NSX shortly before I bought my S2000. The car I drove was slightly modified. It was a great driving experience and I would have bought the car if it had not been wrecked. The NSX is just a better car. But it should be for the price difference. I have a 2 year plan to own one. I will probably buy a 95 or 96 with a Targa top but I will NOT sell my S2000 to get it.
The dyed-in-the-wool NSX lovers should read no further.
I personally have never driven an NSX but I was at the track last night with my S2000 and there was an NSX there, full roll cage & all. Turns out it was being driven by Honda R&D engineers. Here's a direct quote "The S2000 is more fun to drive and has better handling!" All three envolved with the car agreed.

Not picking at your story but if the S2000 and NSX are both developed in Japan why are Americans doing R&D on it in the US?
Also wouldn't driving an NSX with a roll cage be quite different to driving a stock due to the added stiffness? What would they be researching with a different subject? Surely this would be introducing uncontrollable variables?
Maybe Im reading into this a little hard

I happen to have both of these wonderful car! I feel very lucky to have two of the honda's and japan's best car. IMO the nsx is better over all. It is more comfortable, faster, easier to drive at limit, and rare! The car is more balance than the s2k! The s2k might handle a little bit better but I mean just very very little! In the track, the nsx still have a better lap time! The low end power just walk all over the s2k! It is a awesome car for long distance drive, so much better than the s2k IMHO! If I can only have one car in my life... The nsx is the one. But it got to be 97+ b/c i love the open air driving experience and sweet 6sp! Don't get me wrong I love my s2k but the nsx is just no equal!!
