NSX versus S2000
Wow! Lots of us that have both cars!
I'd agree with most comments so far...basically the NSX is a bit more civil and more composed.
The NSX has much taller gears, so it needs a bit of road to stretch its legs...even with 4.235 Type R final drive and J-spec gear set. Matched with no cats, DC header and Tubi exhaust, it sounds so sweet in VTEC and quiet while idling or cruising. The steering on the NSX feels more sharp (at least with Techno 17/18 combo) but it is less forgiving when you have upset the car at the limit. The 5-speed tranny is excellent compared the the 6-speed of later years. I have driven a bunch (there are 3 versions of 6-speed I believe...not 100% sure.) and they don't feel as good as 5-speed...but gear ratio is improved to J-spec like ratios. One thing I am for sure...the brakes are not as good as the car. If you track the car at all...the brakes will fade and the rotors will warp and/or crack. The best results is using Project u rotors which seem to work very well with race pads.
I drive the S2000 more because of the open top and because the gear ratio is so short, so I can hit 9k often and not be in trouble. (as much...) In the stock NSX, 2nd gear redlines @ 80+ MPH...you don't feel like you're going fast, but...the speedo tells you are getting arrested...

i race my friends 95 NSX all the time, he tears me up everytime in all gears. NSX is an amazing car, i've driven his car plenty of time to know that i want one. but only bad thing is that his car is slammed, so its hard to get in and out. -Lo

Thanks for the side by side comparison.
But I have difficulty with what seems like contradictory comments.
You say that the NSX is faster, better brakes, easier to drive, more predictable and better balanced.
Then you say that the S2000 is more jittery(which I agree with).
But then you say the S2000 is more fun to drive.
I guess I don't follow.

I just traded a Spa Yellow '00 NSX for a Jag S type R for my everyday car. Now I have an '04 S2000 (or what ever it will be called) on order for my fun track car. Having driven both, I can say that they definitely come from the same mold. I feel that the S has some advantages from being a newer design. Chassis is stiffer and the brakes are more appropriately sized to the car. I also enjoy the idea of having my first ragtop. The bottom line is that both cars excite in a way that few can. I drove so many cars before deciding on the S2000, including the RX-8, Z, Mits Evo, Subi STi, and vette Z06. None put a grin on my face like the S2000 and I think it was because it reminded me so much of the NSX.
