Obvious design flaw
Last nite after work, I just couldn't resist to try position my left thumb to press the start button and of course couldn't resist to see if it really hurts to close the door with my fingers caught between the dash and door panel. I tried with the door closed with 1 click and it didn't really hurt but I didn't dare to try the door fully closed.
Anybody else who dares to try with the door fully closed?
And it would be wonderful if someone dares to try out the 2 other stunts DrCould suggested, namely the "take a leak with door open" and the "more dangerous right side".

Never thought I'd see a thread on this topic. But now that its being discussed, may I say, DrCloud, you're not alone. A while back I did the exact same thing. I remember thinking at the time, "Good Lord, what are the odds?" And I seem to remember it hurting enough that I don't want to do it again.
haha thats weird i use my left index finger to push the start button. but sometimes i try to do the third click with the key cause i forget what car i am in, or when i drive my g/fs car i use my left foot to feel for the clutch. hahaha its funny to me, the s2k is my first manual car
This thread would have died a much-anticipated death in the obscurity of back pages, had not some of the scurrilous comments about my start-button technique required a response. That the response is coming only now is simply due to the fact that I took a couple of days to experiment with that technique.
And now I'm convinced that using one's left thumb on the Start button (with the door closed, of course) is by far the most natural, and ergonomic, method of starting an S. You slide your fingers, palm up, under the dash, and the contours there tell you when your thumb is going to hit the button, so you don't even have to look. In contrast, making a "number 1" sign to use your index finger is clumsy and you have to watch what you're doing. And using any other finger is, well, silly.
So there!, all you one-fingered weirdos!
