OEM car cover dry rot?
So its getting close to that time of year where I put the S to bed for a while. I have car cover that come with my 2006 S2000. I am assuming it is original? Did some of the cars come with a cover new? It has the S2000 logo like the one sold on Amazon for $188. Anyway, I have never had a car cover before but notice last year when removing it there was a lot of dust underneath that kind of was shed off the cover for lack of a better term. I also tried to pull on the cover a bit to straighten it out on the car and it ripped VERY easily. I'm thinking it may be dry rotted. Do car covers generally not last more than a decade? Do you replace them periodically? Sorry, I have literally never used one in my life before last year...lol.
Thanks

I have the OEM Honda cover for my 2003 S2000. It is a soft cotton that has held up well. It is only used indoors for winter storage and kept in a closed storage bin when not in use. Does yours see a lot of sun?

No sun for me but not sure about the previous owner. I just checked it again. I t tears like notebook paper. I think I'm just going to get a new one that is also weatherproof in case I have to pull it outside the garage to work on a project overnight. I'm thinking maybe the Covercraft Noah on Amazon for $224.

There may well be waterproof breathable covers but I agree with Chuck that if you are storing it indoors the fully breathable covers are the way to go.

FWIW, I have an OEM one, my car used to be a daily so it hasn't been used that much but it's still soft and not brittle.
