Default OEM front lip question...

All, I've had my oem front lip on for about a year now and I recently took it off to fix a very minor crack. Anyways, when I took it off I noticed that it my bumper cover seems to have the outline of the spoiler left on it. It looks almost as if there is a "roll" in the paint where the spoiler sits against the bumper. Does anyone else have this, I know I've read of people who had the spoiler and decided to take it off, well if I took mine off, this 'roll' in the paint would be fairly noticable. I installed it myself, did I do something wrong. It's not that big of an issue because the only time I plan on taking it off is when I put a bra on for long trips, but I was just wondering if anyone has a similar thing happening. Thanks for any imput....

It is probably due to the rubbing against the bumper, just put the lip back on and it is all gone. If you put a lip on, don't expect the bumper to be ever the same.

It's definitely not fading, there's like a ridge in the paint where the spoiler makes contact with the bumper, I just wanted to know if this is normal, it really doesn't bother me because I always have it on and don't plan on removing it, except for a long trip when I need to use a bra...

Does your lip have the gasket on the edges? There should be a black rubber gasket all around the edges of the lip. Also, if you usea polishing compound it should disappear.

Yeah, I have the black stripping, I don't know if it'll disappear because it looks like there's almost an indentation...is this normal?

Polishing compound will only work if it is a very minor scratch. It sounds like you have more of an indention than a scratch. I think the only way to fix this would be to sand and re-paint, but you only need to worry about that if you plan on losing the lip.

I was just wondering if this is normal. It doesn't bother me that much since the only time I plan on taking it off is for long drives when I'll be using a bra. Do I possibly have an ill-fitting spoiler?

i noticed the same thing on my MY2002 black when I took the OEM lip off as well. I was replacing it with the amuse lip. The amuse lip sits lower so the line was still there. Funny thing is I haven't really paid attention to it the last ocuple washes, so maybe it has been "washed away." ?? My guess is it's a residue of some sort from the rubber gasket. I'll have to look again and get back to ya...
