Honestly thats the best plan. If you can up your range of available spending, it will allow you to get close to what you want. For this car i like to stick around the 20k range. I found that you get the most fluctuation of well maintained cars vs mileage. And eventually you'll stumble across that gem.
Haha thanks for the advice. I'll be holding on to her for now, probably work my ass off over the summer to get in a better position to buy an s2k.
In the meantime are there any cheap mods for the MS3 that you know of to get a more notchy feel to the gearbox or to add some power?
Power (I still think it's unnecessary)
- Moot point, it's FWD and you'll just be spinning your front tires with more power. But if you need it, I know we have massive gains with just a cold air intake. Some have reported a ridiculous gains as much as 10%
- Turbo Inlet Pipe. A non-plastic pipe will grant you another 2-5hp, but it's really there to speed up the turbo spool by ~500rpm
- AP to re-map for more power
- Those are the simple bolt on that I can think of, I have the CAI and Turbo Inlet Pipe and if anything, it makes the car sound awesome.
Gearbox
- Aftermarket Rear Motor Mount
- Solid bushings for the shifter
- Short shifter
- Aftermarket counterweight for the shifter
- A lot of people run a short shift plate too. But I don't like it. Super short shifts is not my thing. Of course I'd like a short shift between gears, but I still like to "throw" it into gear. A lot of short shift plates decreases the throw distance way too much, to the point where you're just "clicking" between gears. Not a fan

How much is he asking? A few things bother me. I dont like that it was fitted with remote start, also it sounds like the engine was rebuilt? From all my research on the forums ive found most people will say stay away from a rebuilt F20 engine due to its complexity and all the small things that make the engine as good as it is stock. The car also seems in pretty rough shape. personally I would stay away, but depends on your goals with this car and how much he wants, it might be what you're looking for.
9000$ is REALLY high for what the car looks like imo. It sounds like he's trying to make some money back on his rebuild. But yeah dont do it. As far as I've seen the only reputable shop that has been able to properly rebuild these engines and have them last more than 20k miles is Inline Pro.
For 9000$ you can get a much cleaner non rebuilt S2k. It will just have pretty high mileage. But its a Honda and should last you till 300k miles.
My suggestion is to drive a few of them. I did before purchasing mine. Some unmodified ones that had 2x more miles runs better than ones that got mods and not taken cared off. Even the reflection of the interior is almost a reflection of how the engine was maintained.
