Official Is This Car Worth It Thread vol 3
Yeah I would run from this car. Just the rebuild alone would turn me away. The loss of the FRM in the cylinders is a big hit for me. I would have sourced a used engine before rebuilding one.
With the body damage and the engine rebuild, and all the non stock parts. My price would be under $5k. His $9k asking price is insanity.

Yeah thats different. I wonder if he called it a rebuild, because he is rebuilding the car? TBH I'd still stay away. For 9000$ you can get a clean unmolested S2k. The fact he needed to change the engine at 180k miles means the car is not in good shape. Remember this is still a Honda, there are members on here hitting 300k miles on their original engine and chassis.
Hello all, I am new to the forum and new to the S2000 world. The reason that I joined is because I have the opportunity to purchase a red '03 from a friend. The car was in his father's collection and his father recently passed. It only has ~7,600 miles on it, always garage stored, never driven in the rain, and seems to be in exquisite mechanical condition.
First question: What is a fair price for this car? I am being given first right of refusal before they even list it and them nor I really know what the market is like. I want it to be a fair deal for all parties involved.
Second Question: Is there anything that I need to look out for with it being so infrequently driven and with having so few miles?
Thanks in advance!

As far as mechanical, as long as the car was driven at least once for a bit to keep the fluids moving, I'd say just do a full fluid flush and check to make sure theres no corrosion anywhere. These cars are still Hondas and are incredibly solid.

2) ~7,500 miles is essentially a brand new car. To some people, the car isn't even broken in yet. I live in California and this could easily be worth $40k
3) Flush all the fluids. I'd replace the tires too.
