Official Is This Car Worth It Thread vol 3
Thanks for the feedback. I have given them a cashiers check for my deposit with the rest payable pending completion of the PPI. I'll let you know how it goes. I think it would be great to have an S2000 parked next to the NSX.
And by the way...People on this site sometimes seem to have the attitude of "I'd buy the NSX if I could, but for now I have an S2000." I don't agree. The NSX is a fantastic driving experience and I absolutely love mine. But I do not see the S2000 as a fallback. It is a great, unique sports car in its own right. It benefits from many more years of technology advancement (remember, the NSX was designed in the 80's), all of the lessons Honda learned from the NSX's production, and the same absurdly high quality level. I'm looking forward to adding one to my (small) stable.

If I'm ever fortunate enough to own an NSX, it would only be in addition to the S2000, not in lieu of.
I bought my 2001 AP1 from a good friend that needed cash more than the car for 4200.00. Clean title 142000 miles , my first S2k though I, no stranger to fast cool cars . The car is yellow with stock rims and only mods are AP2 front bumper , cold air intake and header with exhaust . It needed some minor paint work and it has Lamborghini doors ( hated them at first but they are growing on me ) . Has a CF hood which I like with the yellow paint . I have already bought a K&N FIPK to replace the eBay type cold air intake and put new Drilled n slotted rotors and ceramic pads and brand new Summomoto tires on it . The way I figure I could almost double my money if I wanted to sell but the more I drive the more I plan on keeping it.
A car this inexpensive will probably need lots of work. The purchase price is just the entry fee. At this price it's "buyer beware." Especially if the car is intended to be a daily driver. Weekend car allows lots of time to fix things.
Wheels, tires, and suspension are easy fix. A buddy just restored his '02 to OEM springs and made the car much more civilized coupled with the AP2 wheels he previously fitted.

Closed the deal on the car yesterday. I'll post a fuller story on the Intro thread next week. But I committed to update this thread as well. As background, it is a '03 with 75k miles. Two owners in good shape but a driver, not at a show car. Final price was $11,500. Long story short: the owner called me in a panic as I was on my way to pick up the car at the agreed-upon $12k price. The passenger window had stopped working. I said I'd still buy the car if he gave me another $500 off. I did not know at the time that fixing it would be a simple matter pushing the lockout switch on the driver's door. I presented the car to my wife last night and she loves it.

Congratulations on your purchase, you will surely enjoy it.
The car will be hers. I'll mostly drive the NSX and my Lincoln convertible as my "fun" cars. She needed a fun car that she could feel real ownership of. And our first child went away to college yesterday, so I was looking for something to ease the pain.
That is a hell of a deal, assuming nothing is wrong with the car mechanically. If the engine tests come back positive, and the car drives good and straight, I would pick it up without hesitation.
I bought an 02, 153k miles, TWO accidents on record(one resulting in frame damage over 10 years ago). Somehow still has a clean title, but the car has and still drives perfectly, and straight as an arrow, which are really the most important parts. Had it over 2 years now.
