Hey guys new to forum, owned a 05 suzuka blue from 11-15. Got my eye on another, the one I am looking at is missing the front vin and the front left and right fender vin tags but has a clean title. Is this something you would still consider if a PPI was performed or would you go running for the hills?

Thanks

Depends on price and what you plan on using the car for.....show, race, demo derby, etc.

I believe the price to be good. Getting the PPI done today. Car will be used for weekends, meet ups and 1-2 track/autocross a year. Put maybe 5-7k on it a year.

If everything checks out....sure I'd buy it. I don't think the VIN numbers make it drive/look any better. Good luck.

Default Am I over paying for an S2000

Hello guy! So I’m currently thinking about buy a 2000 AP1. The car is in good condition and it is a clean title. THe car has AP2 headlights and taillights, the interior has also been updated to AP2 (except cluster). Now, the car has 240,000 miles on it with apparently 70k on Rebuild. Sound system has been upgraded, XXR wheels, and lowered with red interior. He’s asking $7,000. Is that too much for the car? Only bc the frame has 240,000 miles but I also understand these cars aren’t cheap.
Thank you,
Mike.

If the title is clean, body panels matches the Vin #, has paper work for maintenances and engine rebuild then I believe is not a bad deal. Make sure you do a compression test on the motor.

Default New help with the value of used s2000

Hello fine s2k folks- I was wondering about the value of my year 2000 s2k. I have nice near mint gray s2k with 85k miles. The engine had a case of piston slap. The slap was making a noise. I took the block out and took it to a import performance shop be machined. The shop said that I need the block sleeved and I am getting JE pistons and skunk 2 rods. The cost is over 3 grand just for the machining and parts. I was wondering if that will make the car more valuable when selling? The shop said the sleeved and updated block will be good for over 1000 hp on boost. I wanted to get some input from the s2k folks on this matter? Any thoughts.

I wouldn't say that will make the car MORE valuable than it would be if in perfect OEM condition.
Upgrades/mods/aftermarket parts don't typically add value to cars.
That being said - to the right buyer it might be in a unique situation. I won't not apply that thought to the average buyer though.

That work reduces the value of the car, at least in my eyes. From what I've learned on this site, once these engines are cracked open and worked on....it's just not the same.
