I went 235/40 front and 255 rear. The 235s looks pretty wide for the stock wheel, I'm not sure I would want to go much wider.

+1 Same here.

Street tire wise I went with Dunlop Star Spec Z1's great performance for the value!

Calling all CR tire expert...
I'm running Solo II, front tires getting worn out.
Currently on stocks, any suggestion on recommended sizes?
Will 245/45 fit on our stock front rims or should I go 245/40?
Once again I will be mounting on my stock CR rims.
Love to hear all your recommendation. Pro and Cons.
Thanks for the help.
I too have run several different 235 width tires on the stock width wheels. Just make sure you pay attention to the mfg. specs for each tire you are considering. The cross sectional width, tread width, and shoulder shape vary greatly among manufacturers and even among lines of the same mfg. As you put a wider tire on the stock wheel, the tread width and shoulder shape become more important.

This was critcal for me on my 2002 and on my CR as I run 285's in Michelin PS2, Pirelli P-Zeros, and Goodyear Eagle F1s on my Kinesis wheels, but a several other tires I looked at had significantly wider cross sectional widths and/or had very square shoulders that would rub my stock fender lips.

Just an FYI...

CR Owners,
Anyone swapped out their front sway bar with a stiffer one?
If so, can you share if this modification improves your CR performance?
Thanks

many that change out the front bar don't do it to "improve" the CR's performance.
they do it to adjust the car to their driving style or preference.

Or tire choice....

I think the front bar matches the OEM wheel / tire stagger very well.

If you go non-staggered or to sticky tires, a stiffer front bar might help.

i put a larger front bar on the car for one reason, to keep the rear wheels on the ground.

I realized I never posted up about my last track day.

So my local track is Gingerman Raceway in southwest Michigan. It's a 1.8 mile, 11 turn course. Really fun. Really techinical. I know the track pretty well, but there are a few different lines you can take.

Anyway, last year my personal best lap time there was 1:41.0XX (IIRC). This was with my MY02, comptech FSB, 225/245 R888's, Cobalt Friction XR2/GTS pads. Otherwise stock. That was at my last track day of 2008. The time was set in the morning. I ran out of the XR2's mid-day so had to switch to GTS all around - tons of heat and fade so there was no chance at setting a new best time when the track really warmed up. Probably could have got to the mid 1:40's...but my best lap was really pretty good for me and while the track was cool, the tires got enough heat in them as did the pads.

I went back a few weeks ago with the CR. Same comptech FSB but this year I was on 235/255 RA1's and Hawk Blue / Carbotech XP8. I had done a few track days in the CR already but this was my first time back to Gingerman. First lap out - slightly damp from a bit of morning rain. Cool morning. Taking it a bit easy with a passenger. 1:42.XXX - Not bad...that was my "consistant" time in the previous car. By the end of the first day, when it had warmed up, I was hitting low 1:38's. My consistant time was in the 1:39's. First session on my second day I hit 1:37.7xx. I hit the 1:37's a couple more times, but could easily pull off 1:38's at least a few laps per session. I even went out on street tires for a session (Kuhmo XS 245/255) and was hitting 1:39's occasionaly.

Conclusion - the CR is fast. I'd like to think I've improved as a driver a bit too, but the aero is definitely functional and suspension is amazing.

Timing - I did timing with my MaxQData 5hz gps datalogger for both cases. I used the setting of "Time since last here", which gives me a constant lap time starting and ending at wherever I currently am on the track. It's pretty accurate when compared to the amb transponder times when I was at Redline Time attack at Autobahn country club.

That's good to hear Pat.

I figured I would cross post my Milwaukee Mile lapping day here and hopefully not provoke the wrath of a moderator. Any CR owners in the midwest (or out of it) that want to drive on the historic Milwaukee Mile see this thread.
