Wanting a car but being able to walk away is a great position to be in. I think you could go lower than $27,900...no ones buying right now. Give em hell.

A/C radio version sounds like its for you. The only reason I got the "delete" model was because my CR is my primary autox car and not my daily.

1st rule of negotiation - Don't accept the first offer. They will follow that rule and so should you.

I say you email them $26,500 OTD for an A/C and radio car. See what they come back with. They will come back with something. I like negotiating OTD prices because then they can't add in fees for this and that.. In theory there are no surprises.

what were you able to get the car for.....before sales tax etc.....but no add on dealer fees.... ?

And I believe you got a smoklng deal.....would more dealers accept that now......

OTD with a/c and radio 26,500.....is like 25,000.

Thanks for your help BTW.....although since I can walk away and getting another car is crazy....walking away and not getting the car might be the best bet

08 M3.....leased before the economy exploded
535i...leased by wife right about the time when i did the M3
04 Z06...ASP weapon
145,000 mile 03 Sierra Denali (quadrasteer)...nimble towing beast
08 ShelbyGT daughters car

Maybe CR is crazy...

Mine was $26,700+TTL in the end including a hardtop stand, tint, wheel locks and clear bra. You could argue the value of those from 0-MSRP so I'll just lump it all together.

My negotiations went like this. Went to look at the car and pretended to not know a whole lot about it. Kinda a passing interest kind of thing on a Saturday. They had it marked in the window at $29,995+TTL. I asked the salesman the best they could do, and he said $29,500+TTL, I left, still just acting casually interested.

I did the cars.com thing and emailed a few other dealers for somet quotes on Saturday night.. Just to do my due diligence.

Emailed the original salesman monday and asked a couple of questions. Then made the offer $26,500 including TTL

He came back and said we really can't do that but how about $28,200 including TTL

I email back and said if you throw in a hardtop stand at that price I'll come drop off a deposit tonight.. That was it.. Deal done.

Of course I got calls from the other dealers and I told them what I had been offered. The responses ranged from 'That car can't be new, be careful of a bait and switch' to 'I have a non AC car here and I'll do the same deal but for $1k less. I gotta move this car'.

I actually think I could have done a little better but am very happy with the deal I got. I don't think every dealer will match that price, but some will, being in a state that has snow on the ground right now probably helped.

How do you like your M3? I really want to drive one of those.

I was really kinda torn between selling my G37 and getting an M3 or keeping the G37 and adding a cheaper dedicated track car. I decided that since I had already gone down the dual purpose car route I would try the 2 single purpose cars.

M3 is like a limo. Wicked sounding engine. I have the sedan, didn't get many options---no i drive (i hate it--the i drive)----. No electronic shocks, no M drive. Red interior---white exterior----

Car is very stable on the road, and understeers when pushed real hard.
Much more wear on rear tires----about 14,000 miles now and really kinda need new rear tires-----fronts have about another 40% left.

Test drive a M3 you might like it----I am sure these cars aren't moving like everything else.

Also the engine has to warm up a little like my Elise did and from what I hear like your S needs to.

------------------------
I need a S like another whole in my head -------

But I do keep thinking about it.
---------------------------
Just like a couple of you crazies that have 2 S's
