Yeah it's the same with the NSX. White is always the rarer color. I've only seen the blue ones around me.

Thinking about CR.

Dealer agreed to 27,900 w/o A/C and radio---but I didn't-----
thinking more like 27000 w/o A/C and radio.

Is it crazy to get w/o A/C and radio. This won't be my daily driver, and not my primary autox car. My ASP vette is the autox car---but on the road it is an illegal piece of crap....also no A/C or radio..but driving it 10mph it feels like it's broken.....putting your right foot into it...she humms fine, but 400 rwtorque and 400 rwhp at 2890 lbs....is a might much for the street...also a lot of stupid solo stickers on it.

I used to have an Elise, but without the LSD, that I would occasionally street drive on weekends, and autox once in awhile. I sold it to G.W. Hahn. I miss it. But it had a autox alignment, and was a bit twitchy on the turnpike at 80mph....gotta think the S2000 CR would have a more stable kinda ride at 80mph or so on the turnpike.

Wife wanted the Elise gone. Considering with sales tax took 18K bath with Elise
Opinions on resale value......lets say I buy with A/C radio or without...big difference in resale ?

Opinions ?.........

If I change my mind 4-6 months later---what kind of bath do you think I would take.

PS...the dealer for the 27,900 no A/C radio would sell me hardtop thingie for like $100.....same with an extra set of CR wheels....about $100 off retail of each one or so.

Thanks for any opinions.....

PS....never driven an S but always thought they were cool

Lehman, is that price out the door or is TTL extra? $27,200 out the door was the best I could find on a non-AC car with the hardtop stand. I eventually decided that although it was primarily going to be a 'race' car, I'm just not hardcore enough to live without AC for the drve to and from events.

For resale value I think a non-AC car will hold it's value equally as well as an AC car but it would be harder to find a buyer. If you look at the 1998 Integra type R's there doesn't seem to be a significant difference in value between AC and non AC cars. Some guys will actually seek out the non-AC cars because of the rarity but the car better be pristine to attract these kinds of buyers.

As far as taking a bath in 2 years like your elise. If you are paying $28k for the car the most you can possibly lose is $28k. Looking around right now the cheapest I've seen 'working order' condition '00-'01 cars for is $9k. Which is about 1/3 of the price of the car new after 8 years. That doesn't seem like particularly poor depreciation to me.

I was actually looking for an exige/elise for my 'race car' for this year. But decided I really couldn't afford a good used one. It seems to me that the CR is going to be 90% of the car the lotus is but a real bargain at the prices they are leaving the dealerships for right now.

hardtop stand can be DIY for about 40-50 bucks in less than an hour and the extra set of wheels i have no idea about. I figure if your going to autox your CR you would pickup track rims over stock rims anyway?
All in all thats a pretty good deal.
Cant really guess on your resale yet. Maby when people are more likely to pickup sports cars will we really be able to see what the resale value will be.

27,900 that I was quoted was without tax tags etc.

Not sure if they would have tried bogus dealer fees as it was an over the phone quote from somebody I saw in person the week before. At the time I offered 26,000 (everything without TTL), and they came back with 29,600 (this is on a A/C and radio delete car)...I said bye, don't want the car that much.

I saw another black one in the showroom at another dealer tonight with my 16 year old daughter with me----she really liked the look of the car and wants to drive it. (she drives my 08 ShelbyGT Mustang on the street, as her car now that she has her operators license)----And she told me to get the car with A/C and radio, and that I would regret getting the car without those---if I drove it any where other than an autox....as she pointed out that my vette already doesn't have a/c radio, and is a trailer queen with Hoosier on it.

The black is kinda growing on me.

Think I will offer 27,900 for car with A/C and radio, and walk if they balk at that. I want the car, but I kinda don't---in this economy or kinda any economy---having one toy car too many is not a great idea.....but I did like it, and I do miss the go-kart feeling of my Elise....

So 27,900 plus TTL for black A/C + Radio in South Fla...think they will go for it ?
