[B]Hapa, you admit that you've read the owners manual and have full knowledge of the fact that you need to check your S's oil level a little more frequently than is usual for most cars, and yet in spite of that, you admit that you don't do it and then you claim that the "dealer" is negligent.

I think this is part of the confusion. We cannot judge this car against all of Honda's other products to determine what we think of as average oil consumption. Average for an S2000 is a lot different than average for an Accord. Instead of comparing this car to other Hondas, why not believe the owner's manual when it tells you that you need to check your oil frequently?

I personaly went through maybe 2 quarts of oil during my first 7500 miles. It really began to taper off after that. And by the 11,250 mile oil change, it had nearly stopped completely, so I changed to synthetic. I still check my level once a week in addition to checking at each fill up of my gas tank. I seem to go through 1/8th to 1/4th of a quart every 3750 miles. I'd have a very hard time calling my oil consumption a defect.

And the idea that it's somehow the dealer's fault if I don't check it is absurd, as well. Isn't that what owner's manuals are for? To tell us everything we need to know so we can't claim ignorance later?

Yes, CBeyond, you're absolutely correct. My mistake and my apologies!

No once in this sentence does it say that it will equal a civic or accord in reliability.

I think people need to quit trying to put words into Honda's mouth.

I love my car and wouldn't want it any other way. I also knew about all of this BEFORE buying the car because I spent a little amount of time doing some research.
