As noted elsewhere by some others, I would also agree that oil consumption seems to be directly proportional to the amount of VTEC time...

Hi,
I've got just shy of 27k miles on the odo. My oil consumption only recently decreased to the point where it's about a qt per 3-4k miles- pretty linear decrease from 1 qt per thousand in the beginning. I VTEC some, but not that much (NEVER Vteced during breakin- and very little in first 3k miles- when I was using way more oil than many have reported)- not trying to be arguementative- just want to point out that oil consumtion varies widely and curiously.

While we are on the topic of oil. Does anyone know where you can get 5W20 synthetic? I thought factory fill was Mobil 1 for Honda. Per Checker Auto/Autozone Mobil does not make a 5W20.

I don't think this can be applied as a universal truth.

I added almost 2 quarts before my first oil change at 5k miles. In 2500 miles since, with lots of VTEC, my oil level has barely moved. So it still varies from car to car.

I'm sorry I should clarify, factory fill is Mobil. The Honda Pilot uses 5W20 and when it is time for the change to synthetic I cannot use Mobil 1.
