You get what you pay for. Genuine JDM all the way!

i think there's a fine line between what "replicas" could pass on this car and what shouldn't. i don't see anything wrong w/ a replica ebay ap1 lip (and i'm seriously jealous there's no rep. ap2 lip) or a ez-on top...as long as they are proven to be on par with the oem i think it's fine.

i've had previous experience with cheap parts on my 240sx, and while they might have looked good on the outside, you def. feel the difference when you drive it. also, at the end of the day, you are going to wish you saved a little more and got the little more expensive part and might end up spending even more than what you could have by going out and buying something better because you are fed up w/ the garbage you bought.

so the moral of the day is, sometimes buying the authentic/oem might be cheaper than buying the cheaper replica...at least you won't have to go out and buy it again.

Hardly equatable.

The Shelby Cobra is extremely rare and extremely expensive. So is a Porsche 550.

Its ok to offer recreations of these unattainable classics because they've been out of production of for over four decades.

Buying a $500 "Shine" Amuse knock off because you can't afford a still-in-production and readily available Amuse R1 (What, $1200?) is not the same.

Just like a Murcielago "Replica" - ITS LAME and its POSING.
Yeah, cause spending $1200 on a POS JDM bumper that cracks when a pebble hits it is smart, but spending $300 on a bumper that can be made into a pretzel is ghey? Yea ok.

I've had most of the JDM crap from most of the big JDM houses, and 9 times out of 10, it's all overpriced garbage. The fit is dogsh1t, the quality is marginal, and the price is ludicrous.

Don't compare JDM parts with DTM parts. DTM parts in my personal experience have been FAR superior to JDM, especially now that tons of JDM crap isn't even made in Japan. (I am talking about aesthetic mods).

You all can keep drinking the JDM koolaid, but I ain't buying. My knockoff s2000 parts have been MUCH better than the real deal I had on other cars. Enjoy paying $800 for a Mugen STB thats a piece of tube steel with a mugen sticker on it.

Do you even know how replica parts are made? Company buys a real bumper, makes a mold of it, and produces it for 1/5th the cost because they had no R&D expenses, thus, the products is cheaper. Economics 101. You are often getting the same exact product (thus the word REPLICA) often times, made of better material.
This happens every single day by every company, probably some of which are in your house. Pioneer makes a high end plasma with TONS of research, and the Koreans buy one, reverse engineer it, slap a Samsung sticker on it, and sell it for less. How many of you have a Samsung TV? How about Hyundai or Acura? How many 3 series do you think they "replicated" and sold for less? You have no problems with those right? What about technologies made by Apple and replicated by every single phone company? I wonder how many iphone wannabe phone owners are in this thread? Knocking off products is basic economics.

I would LOVE to know how many people here wouldn't buy a FBOX360 if it did the same thing as the XBOX360 for $25. When it comes to actual safety, structure, performance, etc, fine, research and quality DOES make a difference (lol at Garrett owners for buying turbos made in China now) but for cosmetic crap? Give me a break.

P.S. The only knockoff item on my car is an Amuse lip. The real one would get torn to shreds on NYC roads, but my fake $200 lip has been taking a beating for 6 years and I've had no problems with it AT ALL.

P.P.S By some of your notions, JDM products would be total dogshit. Honda spends more on coffee and xeroxing per day that these companies are worth. I would trust their R&D over the JDM companies any day. Oooohh wow, the JDM crap gives you 3 wheel hp at 8800 RPM for 3 seconds! Wow, let me get on line for that!

It's amazing to me that everyone thus far (that I've seen) has managed to keep this thread relatively civil.... Until the "Moderator" comes along that is.

HeMAD.

A lot of his posts are stereotypical New York OMGRAGE. There was one about tipping at bars a long time ago - I was dying at how worked up he got.

Its all good.. everyone can have an opinion. Mine is that replica parts are weak.

i wait till the ballers get sick of their original parts and sell em in the classifieds.
Best of both worlds if you come across a deal! I recently picked up a set of authentic advan rims that I had been a fan of for years for a good price. I would not have purchased them new, and would have bought a much less expensive brand new set had I decided to go with a different style. The opportunity came and I took it, and now I get to be baller/bling/hella jdm and keep most of my coin too.

oh and something else- iloveracing.com sells a t-shirt with "baby jesus hates your rotas" printed on it. just something for the christian s2000 owners out there to consider....

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but if we can't play nice, I'll just close the thread.

Every time I buy fake I end up buying the same thing but the original a week later. Save yourself time and money and buy original. I refuse to buy anything ASM though.

I dunno man.

Have you owned both replica and authentic jdm parts and put both of them to test? street driven on bad roads? track experience? painting issues between some? fitment issues? Like example, what makes you say that, lets say Shine will be weak compared to ASM/Spoon. I kinda wanna hear your list of authentic parts or replica parts you have had experience with. I'd hate to think you're just talking from your ass.

I own a 100% stock S2000.
