Default our windshields suck

about 2 weeks after i got my car a rock hit my windshied and left a hole in it. well 8 months later, tonight, i was driving home from my girlfriends house and as i was making a turn i noticed a line slowly moving across my winshield. i thought it was a drop of melted snow cause my car was covered in it. well i put on my wipers and i was wrong. turns out i hae a horizontal crack about 3 quaters the length of my windshield. now i need to get it replaced cause as i hit bumps in the road i can actually see the crack geetting longer

Yup. They should have come from the factory with a bullseye on 'em.

Welcome to my world.

After going on a 'fun run' with some S2000s from Kansas City I had several, and I mean several, rock chips on my windsheild previously. A few weeks ago, I opened the door into my garage to leave for work at 7 in the morning to discover a monster crack on my windsheild.

I am assuming that the rocks weakened the glass (though I am unsure how it could get any weaker), and then the drastic temperature changes we have been having here caused the crack.

Hope you get it fixed without too much trouble....I paid $300.

Nothing comes close to the inferiority of Mini Cooper's windshield. Stress crack, chips, holes, and pitting is an everyday occurence. There are some owners that had to repalce their windshield four-five times. And BMW still refuses to accept that there is a huge problem with their product.

you can get home repair kits for window chips and cracks.. might not be 100% professional looking, but you'd save $295

Umm...isn't that what glass coverage is for? Mine was covered by insurance.

Honda windshields suck, because, after a rock puts a hole in it and it is left unrepaired it cracks???

My experience says that any windshield left unrepaired will do this over time. Especially here in NY when the cold pot hole season starts.
