Every car has this same complaint. When I owned my type-s TL people at the forums griped about crappy windshield. This was even more common place when I owned my FX. Rocks hitting glass at high speeds just don't mix whoever makes the windshield.

Is it the windshield's fault that some bozo in a dump truck passed me and shook off gobs of rocks and pebbles that happen to hit it?
I trying to imagine a dump truck passing you unless you were parked!

sorry but that is kinda your own fault.....

whenever i get rock chips in my windscreen i get them filled. its cheap and it works.
if you dont get the little holes fixed they grow ( as you found out)
the rock chip never spread. this is a new crack 3-4 inches below my rock chip

I took a small rock to the windshield the other day and it did not even leave a mark. It hit pretty hard, so I would say they don't suck.

These things are inevitable regardless of the car you drive. My friend has a 350z and a rock chipped his windshield. He got the hole filled at the dealer it it has not been a problem.

I think it is common knowledge that a chipped windsheild left untreated will grow worse over time.

Sometimes you learn the hard way.

Personally I think the windshield is great...mine does get very pitted...however it doesn't crack. I mean I've heard some of the LOUDEST rocks SMACK the windshield...I thought it would have busted right there on the freeway and the wind would be blowing in my face...stop the car, look for a crack...NOTHING

I've been impressed...although yes when the angle of the sun is low (sunrise/set) it looks like I've gone for the metalic sparkle look in the windshield there are that many pits.

However...I think the previous owner replaced the stock windsheild...ya. maybe thats why...mine is a "solex duplate: laminated safety float" thats what it says on the windshield.

I'm not generally an aggressive driver (anymore) and I've long since abandoned the need to drive like a madman or to be the "leader of the bunch" or have my feelings hurt when even an empty dumptruck or a semi driver feels the need to speed and get past everyone. As I get older, my testosterone levels decline and more common sense takes over when it comes to "I'll show that dumptruck. He ain't faster than me".
It comes down to taking a rock hit or really speeding up and getting caught for speeding for which I would rack up points, beyond which, I would lose my job.

Besides, I get to speed and make noise and drive through red lights and go down the wrong side of the road and scare small children all the time when I'm working, so no need to do it on my own time.

Could it be that you are sitting lower in the S relative to other vehicles you own and that is why you are getting more rocks? COuld it be that the angle of the windshield is such that it might catch a few more rocks that another angle would simply deflect. If it is that much of a burdon, get rid of the car and get something higher with a different angled windshield.

Done.
No, the other cars were just as low and about the same windshield angle. It's a pita to replace it, but it's not something I wouldn't buy the car over. Just a nit pick thing. Kinda like the stock clutch. No big deal really, but there doesn't seem to be a heavy duty replacement windshield on the market yet
