owning an s2000 with kids?
Fully understand your decision - I can share my experience (basically why it took me so long to get an S as I wanted one the first time I saw one).
Had a Prelude (and my wife was driving a POS Escort) when we found out we were having our first child. Decided to trade the Escort and get a 98 Accord V6 - Prelude stayed (loved that car), however I will say that the rear facing child seat was a huge challenge/pain.
When the third child was on the way we realized we needed something bigger (and 2002 era SUV's didn't appeal to me). After looking around ended up with a 2002 Odyssey (the best mini-van we could find - I know not saying much). As the Prelude was rusting pretty bad (due to an earlier accident) it was sold - one of the saddest days of my life and why I will never sell my S!! At the time we bought the van there was a red S in the dealership showroom - the car I wanted vs the vehicle we needed - nasty! I actually sat in the S to sign the paperwork on the van (a last act of defiance).
I always told my wife I would get an S one day and when I saw the one I bought, I knew the time was now (kids are now 8, 11 and 13). Accord is still around and will be my winter car - is still in GREAT shape, you gotta love Honda. In a few years will trade the Odyssey for an SUV (still find the extra room useful with kids sports etc.).
Moral of the story (for me) - get an S, hold on and don't let go!
Interestingly when I was putting my sig together noticed that I have owned an '88 Honda, a '98 Honda and an '08 Honda - guess I will have to buy an '18 Honda when they come out (hope they have a good one!!).

I didn't take the time to read the thread, but I hope someone has mentioned that an sti/evo suspension is way too stiff for a newborn child.
My wife is due in August and I initially sold my motorcycle and miata to pick up a more family oriented vehicle. I looked around and came across a Honda fit Sport. It was fun for what it was, but eventually I got really tired of it ( I put 5k miles on it in a month and sold it for $200 more than I purchased it for) and sold it to a friend a month later. My wife insisted that I purchase a fun car for us to drive so in came the s2k. We went and bought her a new car to carry the baby in; can't beat having an awesome significant other.

I have the same situation. I just found out that my wife is pregnant 2 wks ago after buying my s2k 5 mos ago. Good thing my wife has a 09 fit and I'm lucky to have a 08 evo MR.And my evo is not modified so its not "bouncy" like my S. Its still doable to own an S2k as long as you have a extra vehicle and the S as a weekend car.
Kids will trash a car. If you're a car guy, which almost everyone on here is, just buy a separate reasonably priced (whatever that may be for you) and safe vehicle to ferry them around in. Otherwise, be prepared to spend your weekends cleaning up food, drool, barf, & other bodily fluids.
It's funny how a lot of people have a baby and suddenly the S2000 has ta go. Hell, to a lot of people, the 2 door car has to go!!! And a 4 door car is the replacement. I'm a car guy, a pretty hardcore one. We always had Coupes with 2 kids. We just had a baby 6 months ago, and I still have the S2k. U can get a mid-90's Accord for family duties. The cost $2500, plus basic insurance. But I understand everyone has different situations.

Someone mentioned the evo/sti suspension being to stiff for a baby, and I can agree from driving the evo. Sometimes I feel rattled in the drivers seat, I can just imagine a baby in the back lol.
I definetly can't do the evo/sti as a 2nd car though,it was either or for me,we still gotta pick up a car for the wife, the wife wants another is250 when we get back to the states as that was/is her favorite car...however

for sure though, I'm just gona rock a 90s civic/accord for a beater for myself and hunt down an s2k! I miss driving top down on nice days and I'm getting old/too scared to drive stupid on the street so I don't need a lot of power at all. I just can't wait to get back stateside

It's funny I found this thread... I just found out that my wife was pregnant 2 weeks ago. I've had my S since back in February though. Things are tight, but mostly because of rent/car payments.
We have a 2004 Nissan Pathfinder together, she has an infiniti G35 coupe, and I now have the S2k after selling my Civic. Personally I think despite we have 3 car payments (The SUV is done fairly soon) but money will still be tight.. I'll be using the SUV and put the S on the backburner as a weekend warrior... Which works for me just fine because I dislike dailying the car as I want it more for my "hobby" use so I can keep it semi preserved and in good shape overall.
I'm not sure how well we will do with the kid in a G35 coupe when we aren't using the Pathfinder but I'm guessing its doable. I just look forward to the day where my child will be born and 80lbs so I can take them for they're first ride in the S2k top down haha.

Yeah It all started with our SUV about 5 years ago because we needed something bigger than our cars to haul groceries and shit around. Then eventually the wifes Prelude started shitting out and had close to 175k on it so instead of buying another pos we decided it was time to get her something reliable.
Then as for me I had a Civic up unit last February but I was unable to drive the car around town because it was heavily modified and PD knows who I am. I eventually sold it because I had to pay to have it pass smog which was $400 and I couldn't justify doing this any longer and I realized how much I outgrew the car... So I decided to get the S2k. Took part of the money I got from the Civic to pay the wife off my half for the truck and the rest went to my down payment on the S2k.
If I could go back NOW I might have done a few things differently but it is what is.

.......what could you have done differently?
