I have a hell of a time putting on and taking off the damn boot. I go through the pain because it looks good on and is probably better when I am breaking the speed limit. I don't go through this much since I have my top down 95% of the time, but has anyone figured out how to put on and take off easily ??? Also, what's the neg (damage wise) on not having the boot on?

Thanks for the help.

I've had my car since Oct. '99 and have maybe used the cover four or five times. It is a pain in the butt to use. Others have warned about damages that can occur to the top if left exposed to the elements, but I haven't seen any such damage. My rear window is still nice and clear (because of proper care). My cover spends the majority of its time parked under my pool table.

Dlee, can you describe your struggle in more detail? I also pop the boot on and off without much drama, maybe 100 seconds tops.

The sun, UV rays, and other elements will adversely affect your top, the rubber edges, hinges, etc. Guaranteed. You may not see it in one year, maybe not five. However, if you plan on keeping the car a while and avoiding replacing the top (a very expensive affair), I strongly suggest that you go through the pain in the butt with the boot.

It's your call. The top will not last forever, and you will have to replace it at some time. Is it better to replace the top less often over 10 years or save the time and inconvenience of the boot?

Two minutes tops, and it has only popped out once. Besides any damage that may be caused by not installing the boot, it just looks tacky without. The top all pilled up on the back of the car cheapens the look.

I hear you. Those snap things are not easy to operate and tough to reach to fasten/remove.

Definately looks nice and clean with the boot on though.
