Paint Defect?
All,
On my way out of a restuarant last night I noticed that there was a small leaf or something stuck to the back my trunk lid. I went to wipe it off and my heart sank when I realized it was IN the paint and not just on it.
It's a hole in the paint down to the metal a little smaller than a dime in the back vertical surface of the trunk. There's no dent, so I can't imagine that it's due to impact. The entire area is filled with the beginnings of rust. I'm guessing it's due to a bubble beneath the primer that needed some time and temperature variation to pop through.
Two questions:
1) Am I right that his is probably due to a defect? Will the dealer recognize it as such?
2) If the dealer tells me to pound sand what's the best way to patch it up?
-Thanks

Probaby not a defect and more apt to be some type of corrosive picked up on the road somehow . Take it to your dealer and they' will fix it free of charge under warranty . They are not going to argue with you over a $10 dollar fix.
