The simplest way to do it is to leave the car in direct sunlight to warm up the tape. Open a door and grab the bottom of the tape. Just peel it off - it will take awhile and will stick quite a bit. Don't use a hairdryer to warm it up - you might heat up the surrounding glue and have a real problem.

The issue with having to paint has to do with how much sanding Honda did at the plant to knock off imperfections before they put the tape on. Mine must have had a bunch of problems with the paint because they sanded the crap out of it. I hit it gently with 3m swirl mark remover and hand polish, but I had to go into the primer to remove the sanding.

Not a big problem - couple hundred bucks at the local body shop.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat - even knowing it had to be painted. The difference is highly noticeable. Check out the european and british threads if you want to see some pictures. Their cars don't have the tape.

I removed mine just like this. Mine had only a small section that required buffing. It look like they hit it with some fine steel wool. I took it to my Honda dealer and they buffed it out for me, and the did it at no cost to me. I've been dealing with the same service advisor for many years so he took care of it for me.

maaan i finally did it and it looks awesome!

i had it painted since it was just a little bit dull... i think the car looks lower for some reason (many say it actually looks taller... but not in my opinion)...

every s2k owner should do it.... and i dont think 03> models should really need paint..
