They are bad drivers with issues about being passed. They are probably jealous of people that get to own S2000s too.

I've had this one pick up truck swerve constantly in front of me, slowly going into other lanes and playing it off like he meant to switch lanes, quickly followed by another swerve back in my lane.

I decided to get ahead and him and floored it around and all of a sudden I see him speeding up on my tail and I'm thinking WTF dude I'm trying to get away from your non driving ass.

But in response to the OP I see people speed up all the time when I'm trying to get around like a normal driver. Most of the time they're in the left lane doing under the speed limit, and as I'm pulling up next to them going my steady speed all of a sudden they're keeping pace or going faster. WTH!

What I really can't stand is when there's no cars behind me for a few hundred feet and a car in the other lane decides to wait until the last moment to switch into my lane before his lane veers off wherever, but they speed up and squeeze in front of me when they had the entire time and lane behind me to switch. It's the same people that leave their lane, get ahead of the one car that's ahead and get back into the same lane just to make a turn immediately after...

passing...hmm...something many drivers will never master.

What are you guys' opinion on the good ol' flash? I know oversees its done all the time. Mainly for driving puttering along down the left [read fast] lane. To recall an incident, driving along the coastal route in South Africa at around 130-140kph headed towards the beach, a sir in a Audi Rs6 is flashing me from probably a quarter mile back(only me and him on the road and he's approaching fast). I slide over to the right lane to let him by. He's probably doing about 170-180 k's. He flicks the hazards on to say thanks and I give him a quick flash (of my high-beams) to acknowledge.

If I attempt to flash someone here on the East Coast, I get no response, hardly anyone moves, if they do move they're f*king pissed off about it. I don't mean any harm, I just want you to get out the LANE YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE DRIVING IN.

How many of you do the flash-pass?

I have attempted the flash-warning technique (not in the S) to no avail. And you're right, it does seem to piss people off.

I do it mostly on the few michigan or NY drivers who don't know that in Canada, the passing lane is for PASSING. I have to say that most MI and NY drivers are fast drivers who don't use their signals, but at least they drive reasonable speeds. Yup, they're the ones who get off the bridge to canada and stick to the left lane NO MATTER WHAT. So, i sit 3 seconds behind them for about 5 minutes. Then i flash to pass. If they don't get the hint, then i flash again. Most move over without issue and most won't start any shit in a foreign country.

If some one does it to me, it means i'm stuck behind someone trying to pass a freight liner...you know, those big semis are scary...oooo scary. i'm not insulted...they want to drive faster than me, so be it.

this discussion is fun.

Ever sense a civic si passed me and I showed off by flooring it back only for cop to pull me over thinking I was trying to race and got charged for wreck less driving, I stopped passing randomly like that....

Did do it few days ago. Some people in a ford focus (stock) kept staring the hell outa me every time we passed in traffic and when it finally got open he flew by me lil. So I assumed they wanted a show so I did it back.

But some people just arrogant and can't control their anger/pride in which case ignore them. Perfect example is i Passed a grand am with exhaust one time with my supercharged tibby(simply had to get in the lane fast due to needing to turn soon). Guy thought I was showing off, flew past me doing double speed limit probly and didn't noticed the light was red. He locked up his brakes slamming into the 2 cars at the light....

I don't pay attention honesly. I can think of a few instances where I have been provoked/messed with but i didn't do anything to deserve it. I think some people just wanna get a rise out of me by acting like a fool sometimes.

I definitely do this on the highway when someone in the left lane isn't paying attention.

I'll flash him, give him a few seconds, flash again, give him another few seconds, then a couple of beeps of the horn. At that point they look in the rear-view mirror and get all pissed off, so I end up have to go around them.

I've never had someone go around me in the left lane, and if I did, I'd feel like an idiot.

I feel like I need to defend pickup truck drivers. We're not all bad. I daily drive a pickup and I'm pretty civil on the road, including correct use of the passing lane. I've seen plenty of drivers in all types of cars be jerks, so I don't think you can always discriminate based on vehicle...

...except for 3-series Bimmers. Around here, they're pretty much ALL driven by jerks.

Nearly every time we get a good bit of rain or some snow, I see a 3series spun out and up on a curve. I bet everytime that the driver is shocked that their mighty BMW couldn't withstand from spinning out when they drive like a tool. /smallrant
