Talking Path back to the Dark Side almost Complete...

My 996 is days away from changing hands, which means I'm days away from coming back home...to an S2k.

The decision now is whether a used AP1/AP2 or a brand new 2007. I keep having dreams of the new GPW/BLK/RED combo, but it's hard to pass up a good pre-owned car for $10k less. We'll see what the next 2 weeks bring.

The 996 was a great car, but frankly getting rid of the S2000 was the worst move I made. After the giddiness of the Porsche wore off, I started realizing just what an awesome car (for the price) the Honda is. I was paying a premium for a car that is simply not that much better. Yes, it has more power, more grip, more comfort...more...you get the point. Sometimes more is not better.

It'll be good to be home.

Good for you! That's an interesting trip you've taken, and it's interesting that one who owned a 996 would find the S2000 more attractive. As one who just loves roadsters, I share your taste, but I'm sure we're in the minority (well, other than on this site).

Good luck with yout sale, and with you next step.

One of my good friends has a 2003 996. He says he enjoys riding in my S as much as I enjoy riding in his Porsche. He is also getting ready to sell. He said the same thing you did....the thrill wore off.

pride and marketing have been a curse on this world.

im not saying porsche isn't a great car. ive driven some and they are special. but they aren't that special.

people think highly of them, save up a ton to get them and hardly anyone would go against the grain in admitting that it might not be as good as you thought.

welcome back.

Get an 07. I was in the market for an s2k for the longest time. I literally testdrove 10+ S2ks both AP1 and AP2 and liked the AP2 much better. At one point i was inches away from signing the papers on a 2003 berlina but nomatter how much i tried to like the 03, i wanted an AP2 that much more. I looked around for an 07 and got a great deal so picked one up and can't be any happier. Good luck and welcome back!

people are prob tired of hearing me say, unless ur really into the VSA, get a nice used 04 and you can mod till ur head falls off with the savings. SC, chasis bracing, wheels, tires, ICE. or just use it to buy a couple plasma screens, travel, man i love thinking of how to spend money i dont have.

For the millionth time, VSA can be disabled with the touch of a button.

Now, if you mean DBW, I believe Comptech recently released a SC kit for the 2006 USDM AP2 (F22C), and since the 2007 is exactly the same as the 2006 technically... you get the picture here.
