Picked up my S2000
Hey you guys,
I just purchased a berlina black S2000 saturday. It is a 2001 black on black with 25,000 miles. I picked it up for 20,600 and they wanted 23,900 so i feel like i got a decent deal. The only thing that makes me mad is that it was a certified honda dealership car but what happened was another smaller dealership bought it off them voiding the 3 year certified warranty. Oh well
I just had a few questions about it. I noticed it has a clicking or more like a "kuhk kuhk kuhk" sound once in a while when im starting off with the clutch in 1st or reverse. After im out of 1st or reverse it goes away and it only happens once in a while. Is this most likely the spindle nut lubrication and tightening problem? If so will Honda fix it for free since i do not have a warranty?
One more complaint, the stock system in the S2000 is horrible and distorted! but i love my s2k
Thanks and ill try to post up pictures when i get some

one more question if any care to answer
i did a search and know that the s2000 gets the best launches at around 7000 rpms but it's really hard on the differentials. If i was to launch at around 5000 rpm once in a while would it really be that bad? I noticed a lot of you guys launch your cars on the track or street racing. If it is a once in a while thing would it be ok or is it a matter of luck if your differentials dont blow.
thanks

The 1st gear clunk is normal and many people have encountered it. Use the search function to dig up some info on it. I don't recommend hi-rev launches, but I am guilty of this myself during some autocrossing events. I wouldn't get in the habit of doing it.
Enjoy the car. Black/black is a nice color...be prepared to keep it clean.

Thanks for the responses!
Yea I noticed the interior of the s2000 is pretty difficult to clean but thanks to its pretty flat shape the exterior is able to clean very quickly. What speakers do you guys recommend?
