Plan on towing my S2000 with the Pilot during vacation! Thoughts?

Thanks for the suggestions and comments folks! That's what I about our board!

Guess we'll just have to run the Pilot on the Dragon! Unless I can locate a flatbed trailer with electric brakes.

Also, be sure to have a shield between the cars to keep the road trash off the S. I've seen terrible damage from rocks and sand on towed vehicles.

Raul,

Asif's evaluation is a pretty good one. Honestly, I think your Pilot will have no problems pulling an S2000 on a flatbed w/ electric brakes. You will however get lousy mileage, and have to pull some of the steep grades in NC/TN at speeds well under 55 mph, but you'll get there. Electric brakes on a 2 axle flatbed will probably be able to stop the trailer AND your pilot, so that wouldn't be an issue. That being said...

Have you looked into renting a "real" truck for the week? I'm trying to think of places that rent light duty trucks. I know you can lease a class 4 flatbed from Penske, but I'm guessing that your back wouldn't view that too kindly relative to the S2000. Avis will rent you a Suburban (or similar large SUV) for about $80/day. I'm guessing you can get an Expedition from Hertz or a Durango from Thrifty for about the same. While they probably won't have a trailer brake hookup, the trucks themselves are probably capable of doing the stopping for you.

You should get the optional transmission cooler on the Pilot before you tow anything.

By the way, we have a black 03 Pilot and a Silverstone 00 S2000.
