Whats up man welcome to S2ki...I am 18 and I have had my S2000 for about a year and a half and I can tell you that this car is not a car you can get in and drive. If you want a RWD car that is pretty quick I would go with maybe a 95 Nissan 240SX or a Miata. Your 14 and by the time your 16 you wont want an S2000. Your gunna want to drive around and have fun with your friends in the car and this car only has 2 seats. Now if you want a quick 4 Seater and something that has endless mods for it I`d go with an Integra GS-R...The car can take a beating and it is a good car to learn standard on and verry easy to drive....But like I said if your looking for RWD the 240Sx is your answer....

My cars before this where 98 Integra GS, 1999 GS-R, 1997 BMW 328i and an 04 TSX ( I have a really good job for my age as you can see)..Now I have an S2000 and this car is a fun car to drive but you have to know how...before you step into this you need to know Control and how and why to shift not to mention you have to be verry careful On hot days,Rain,Snow Etc...

Hi. This is my first time posting, but I've read many posts on S2Ki. I am a 14 year old male and I would like to buy a S2Ki as a 16 year old. What should I do to make sure that I get a S2000?

Thank you.
You all can say what you want, but I personally wouldn't want a 16 year old driving an S2k next to me on any road, any time, any where. Freaking dangerous, you can go on and on about maturity levels and such but do you personally know any 16 year olds?? I do, I know several and while they come from very different backgrounds, one thing is consistant... the existance of peer pressure and the need to impress. Waaaaay too potent a combination. There's a REASON the majority of s2ks are purchased by people who are 25+, #1 cost of car, #2 insurance cost. Keep dreaming kid; if your parents are stupid enough to buy you an S2000 when you're 16 then they're just asking for it. They're legally liable for whatever damage you cause/people you injure until you're 18. So for now i'd give up the pipe dream, please take this advice, and get yourself an S2000 when you can buy one yourself. No offense meant but somebody here had to give you a reality check.

I got one when I was 17, drove it for three and a half years without one single incident. My older brother borrowed it and wrecked it within 5 minutes. Maturity level does play a very big role here. Will, are you calling my parents stupid? After living with someone for 16+ years, his parents know him better than you ever will... Some of the comments you made weren't necessary at all.
He's 14 and starting a two-year plan to get a car. I'll bet that's more than you can say about yourself! So please, tone down your reality checks sir.

Everyone is saying how diffcult this car is to handle...Ya it is difficult to handle on the track with turns and high speeds, but I don't see how that applies to every day driving in which you are unable to reac those speeds? Are we just assuming this kid is gona drive like an ass and take turns at 100mph and wipe himself out? If he drives normal, this car is no more difficult to handle than a civic. Ya it can also reach pretty high speeds, but that can be said about any car as long as you put the pedal to the metal. If the kid is gona drive like an ass and speed, he is gona wreck any car regardless if its an S2000 or Miata. But yet we keep on saying this car is diffcult to drive or he's too young and inexperienced to handle it? I'm sure all of us who drive S2000 can really handle the car at its full potential, and have had plenty of track experience or performance driving school just to be able to own this car and drive it daily on the streets...

I'd get your parents to buy it for you. Your still young and working your ass off to buy a car isn't worth it.
LMFAO

That's why I would prefer for them to be out there in a nice, lightweight S2000 rather than, say, a huge SUV that was far more likely to kill everyone around them in an accident.

Last month a 16 year old high school student showed up at a meet with his newly purchased S2000. He looked 18 and I probably wasn't listening close enough when he first told me he just got his license.......I assume anyone with a S2000 has some driving experience. Anyway, this new owner followed me out to a go-kart track and it was the toughest/longest/scariest 20 mile drive I've ever made. I watched this guy make so many mistakes I had to pull over 3 different times. In trying to show off he made us miss our exit by a few miles and got me a little lost. The drive to the next spot was just a tad better.

He gave me a call yesterday to ask if I knew anyone selling a front bumper because he put his car in a ditch. Sounds like he got lucky and only messed up the bumper cover.

Everyone at that meet felt the same way about his driving abilities (he needs more time behind the wheel), but we were all too kind to say it to his face because he was so excited about just buying his S2000 and we didn't want to spoil it for him.

He's now had the car for over a month and I think he is now humbled by it - maybe even a little afraid of it. I hope he comes across my post because I'm saying things here that I wish I had said to him before he drove home from the meet.

I know every driver is not equal and every 16 year old isn't either, but I wanted to share this experience.

I think it is awesome that a 14 year old has already made plans to hop it up to a S2000 - but I do worry that someone at the age of 16 can even grasp what he is hopping into.

Wasn't there some other post about some 16 year old who bought his S then crashed it a week or two later?
