Plastic Rear Window Woes
Has anyone had any problems with their rear plastic windows? Mine split right down the middle when I dropped the top last weekend.
I've tried getting Honda to fix it under warranty since I only bought the car at the beginning of November but Honda have refused. So much for paying for the peace of mind of a "Honda Approved Vehicle". When the car was in the dealers the tech. told me there was a problem with the friction plate in my clutch to which Honda have been extremely quiet when I put in my claim. Anyone else had a similar bad experience?

It says in the manual to not lower the top in freezing temperatures. I guess you learned the hard way. If I was the dealer, I wouldn't replace it either. I liken it to an over-rev. Owner induced failure.
Also, the friction plate makes noise but it's not a defect and it will not damage the car. It's just a noise. Some dealerships have been nice enough to do the TSB and deal with honda on that. If you're out of warranty, you should just live with the noise... or pay to have a new "updated" friction disk installed.

Granted. I know the hood shouldn't be operated when its cold, it was 7 degrees that day (according to the airtemp sensor on my A4
) and I'd just finished hand washing it with hot water. Makes me wonder why I paid the money for the warranty.

7 degrees is about 45F. Well above freezing. I could see a concern for the vinyl in the top fabric if it was frozen but man. I would't think that 45 degrees would be a problem for the fabric or the window.
Damn shame is what it is. Take a look at your particular owner's manual to see what it says. Also, you can always replace the window with a glass one but I think you have to replace the entire top fabric as well.
Not BS

This guy had it crack at 34 degrees I guess I had the number reversed but I was simply demonstrating that it can happen at higher temps than freezing.
I also did not realize he was talking
