Plate number 2QHT516
Sondra, i knew the car was salvage, first i didn't see the car when i bought it, a friend of mine (good friend) who is a import car dealer contact this guy, he saw the car, he road tested it, looked for anything odd, and nothing the car was in perfect condition, he deals everyday with crashed car or even totaled cars for parts and he knows this shit, but when he checked the car he was amazed, no scratches no nothing and the guy who sold the car said the car was crashed from the right side and the door was replaced new, and the windshield replaced not original but it fits, if the car was rebuilt from a total, WOW EXCELLENT WORK, you wouldn't notice anything if you look at it, only if you look carefully there are thing that don't fit, missing bolts and screws. Even my friend road teste from California to Texas then Teas to El salvador, going thru Mexico Guatemala and El Salvador, about 5k miles approx. and the car responds hin very nice.
The only thing i want is if anyone of you knows the owner or know what happened to my ca, tell me so i can fix my car closely and i can get the parts easily than checking the car one piece by piece.
For example if it was crashed the left side of the car i can check it closely in one or two day or below it, so i check any wires, missing bolt, etc, you know what i mean, this is my daily car i use to work, so i need to make my S2000 as beautiful as new.

I bought two new cars in January of 2000 and the California plates started with 4K and 4J. Of course, they both have vanity plates on them now.

There are many questionable details with your car. Good luck with it.
An insurance company will "write off" a "totalled" car if the cost to fix it is deemed more than the worth of the car. Those would be professional prices.
At professional prices the accidents we saw at Laguna Seca were $10-14K... not far from a "Total". BUT the cars are anything but totalled.
No guarantees of course but my faith in the S2000 (based on some real world corroboration of the engineering theory behind the car) says our friend mocantec may have a very sound car indeed; salvage or not.

The air bags in the car are different in color from eachother, at least they were in several of the pics of cars with airbags deployed. If it was a roadworthy rebuild, AND it feels ok, you may just be fine. Even a car that has been striped of its motor, wheels, tranny, interior and seats in a theft situation could be considereda " total loss"
Good luck finding out more info.

mocantec,
i have a few questions for you. why would you pay 26k for a salvaged car knowing in was salvaged?
you can get a non-salvaged S2000 with low miles for around 26-28k. Heck, you can get new 02 models for around 32k. i would not of paid anymore than 18k-20k for a salvaged S2000 no matter how good it looked or felt. the problem with salvaged car is it doesnt really have a true value anymore. once the car has a salvaged title. then by all means, there is no book value other than the fact how much someone is willing to pay for it. Even though your car looks or feels like its in good shape doesnt mean anything. The frame might be bent etc... I remember i bought a 1987 CRX SI salvaged for 2k dollars, took it home and ran great for about 1 week, then one day while i was driving 70 on the freeway, the stupid hood clamp broke off and the hood flew up and cracked the windeshield and also left a bigass dent on the roof line. Luckily there was no cars around because i got freaked out and swerved to the right lane. i would never buy another salvaged car again, other than maybe an interior theft salvage.
good luck to you and hope you can find some explanation to your car past.
