Okay...a number of us like to meet up with others. When doing so, we often like to "show off" our goodies. Given the nature of our mechanical beasts, I've oftened wondered which way is best to consider showing off the engine. Hood Closed...keeps 'em guessing & really tight on the lines of the car:
Hood Partially Opened...a bit mysterious...just what's lurkin' in those shadows & chrome?:

For the "gaping wide open" position, where do you affix the base of the prop? I was looking around inside the engine bay and wasn't sure where you could put it securely.
It really depends on what you have under the hood. If it's worth showing open the damn hood all the way. If it's no big whoop, leave it close until someone asks. But either way if you are going to pop the hood to show off. Clean the damn thing!
To answer your question, I think the best way to show off the car is with the top down and driving it or park it in a wide open are in a parking lot. Both seem to attract a lot of attention. BTW, I voted hood down.
