don't pay attention to the guage, its crap. The last 4 bars can go out on you in 5 minutes....

Pay attention to how much gas you put in the tank, then how many miles you drive, then how much you put in the next time. That will give you an idea on your mileage

I remember that someone posted that the last four bars on his gas gage represented approximately one gallon of gas. I tested this last week and ran about 25 miles from four bars to zero and figure 25 MPG is about my average mileage. I don't know if this a coincidence, but I believe that the last four bars on my gage represent about one gallon of 91 octane California-gold. When my last bar disappears, I can just get 11 gallons in the tank. I imagine that each gage is slightly different, but I figure that I could go another 50+ miles after the last bar if all of the fuel is useable, although I haven't been brave enough to test this theory yet.

When I'm on the last three bars, in 5 miles the light comes on. If you really drive this car, you won't get good mileage. I consistantly get 18 mpg city/hwy.

Well, obviously driving habit heavily dictates fuel economy.
Today I drove 200 miles on highway. Well, I still have about 4 bars of gas left on a full tank. Assuming I could get another 80miles or so out of rest of gas, I am looking at pretty decent mileage. BTW, I drove all 200 miles with top up and windows close with air conditioning on.

Reset trip meter, drive, fill up, see how many gallons went in, and get the MPG.

Gas guages are not linear and will not provide "accurate" information for MPG assumptions.

it took 10.5 gallons shortly after the light came on. so i could of went another about 100miles with light on.

if you are getting about 27miles per bar you are crazy. or u have electric motor on the side.
