Default Post trip maintenance?

After acquiring my first s2k last week I took it on the road for a business trip...Most fun I have ever had in a vehicle without a doubt. I put on about 600 glorious miles, and so I am wondering, after a trip of 500 or so miles, aside from the washing/waxing, what kind of maintenance/care, if any, do you all do to keep your s2k pristine? Also, water continues to bead up on my s2k, but I find myself wanting to wax it anyways, so my other question is, how frequent is too frequent as far as waxing is concerned?

Thanks for the input,

NWS

there isn't really any maintenance needed after a trip other than checking oil levels and tire pressures IMO. I think maintenance items are more important prior to a long trip. Just follow your normal oil change maintenance schedule and change it when it's due. If you put on 600 highway miles that is the best kind of driving you can do, when cruising at highway speeds with a fully warmed engine you are experiencing almost zero wear. Get in the habit of checking your oil on a weekly basis or any time you fill up the car with fuel, if the oil level gets too low it can kill the engine.

There is no such thing as too much waxing, I would limit the number of times you do a hard polish on the car but when it comes to wax you can do it as many times as needed.

When you purchased the car, did you initially do an oil change, transmission and differential fluid change, and top off everything else?

Nothing unless the mileage for the road trip bumped it into the next service interval.

For a trip like that I would only do a few checks to make sure everything was good (unless it bumped me into the next service need).

Go ahead and wax it you are not going to hurt anything in reality. I tend to do a maintenance spray on wax (Prima Hydro ) every other week and may hit it with Autoglym HD every 6wks or so. Car beads awesome and so nice and easy to wash!

I'm sure this varies person-to-person, but I always thought it was wise to flush all the fluids and do an oil change after buying a new car. (a) It won't matter if the previous owner lied or was off on the dates and (b) you'll establish a new baseline for yourself.

Probably a matter of opinion, though.

I'd top off the gas.
