Yes it was, because he lives in SC.... It would have been 6-8% higher if he lived in GA

Sales tax on vehicles in SC is capped at $300. Unfortunately, we have to pay property tax on them every year.

Fortunately, if you transfer your tag from an older car, you don't have to pay it until the next year...if you frequently buy newer vehicles, you can time your sale/purchase right and avoid paying taxes on them before they start to depreciate.

I just paid $28,900+tax in south FL. Could've gotten a black 07, but with 500 miles, for $27.5+tax. The white was worth it
Buying a faster color is always worth it.

8.25% tax here.

30400 otd Bay Area, CA. Just car, dmv, and tax. 12 miles on car

Note of warning, check the car you want. Many dealers install KARR aftermarket alarms that result in t-tap crimps in your wiring harness and holes in your lower instrument panel cover, and fail to mention this to your when negotiating. The OEM alarm is a plug and play alarm that does not require modifications to the car except for the valet kill switch location. I didn't know this until I went about installing an OEM alarm.

We pay 6-8% sales tax on the car AND ad velorum on the tag every year as well. SC makes out a bit better than GA in this respect...

I don't care for the wheels or new gauge cluster on the '08, though down the road, you'll have a car that's "one less year old" which will be worth some incremental amount. I'm curious to see/hear about the subtle changes to the seats.
