A problem of recognition and respect
That's exactly why I love the S and why I'm getting one this week. People dis what the don't understand or can't comprehend, it just shows that they don't know much about cars. When someboby asks me, I'll tell them flat out, it's a Ferrari, not that it would have mattered to them anyway, they obviously could care less or they wouldn't have asked.
For those that put it down because it's a Honda or think it's a Miata, I remember a day when a punch in the face would earn a great deal of respect from ignorant people............damn lawyers!

I think everyone with a S2000 deserves a hummer
The other day some random woman was asking me if my car as a "compressor." I said "no, it is a honda." She was extremely impressed and started babling how she thought it was a compressor, one of those cadillac things.....

even though she doesn't know jack sh!t (and jack left town) about cars, she certainly appreciated the S's lines.
BTW, does anyone have a link to the s2000 commercial?

Anyone I'd care to crack bread with (IOW, opinions I give a rat's ass about) knows damn well what the "H" legacy stands for when it comes to sportscars and racing.
If they don't, well...they might as well be driving this:
i donno bout u guys but up here its like if i tell a guy i have an s2000 ,he either goes nuts and is really pleased ,or just stares at u blanklessly and tells u ,that u should have brought a bimmer or merc instead!
its really split between who likes the s2000 and who doesnt
i think lots of people like it cause it has respect in the street races ,but for guys that like showing off to girls ..............amm no!

All I know is:
1. When I walk out to the parking lot & see it I know this car's for me (everyone else=not important)
2. When I get in & drive (long, short, hard, easy it doesn't matter) I KNOW this car's for me (everyone else=even less important).

You know the old saying, "You must earn respect" Porsche is Porsche because of the heritage. If Honda stays with the S2000 then in 20 - 30 years people will say the same thing. With amount of totals we see being reported there may not be any S2000's in 20 years.
I actually like the fact that people dont know what the car is and it's just a honda. In the line of work i am i dont really like to show off expensive cars, it doesnt work in our advantage, so this way i get a great sports car, and when my clients see my car, they are like or he only drives a honda.
But when i want to make a wow factor like a porsche i tell them it's an s2000 and then there like ya but what model, i know it s a 2000 (Talking about the year make) But what model, and i tell thenm again no it s called a s2000 and then again ya but what model? Then i just give up.
But in general calling your car a S2000 gives it a bigger wow factor than saying it s a honda, if that is important depending on the circumstances, but even that it will never get the respect that should go with it.
That being said do you think the car should have come out in the acura line then, to give it some prestige status?
