The reality here is that if you drive cars you know the difference. The S2000 is a great car for the money, looks to be an excellent track / handling car. It is not and was not built to be a drag car. Porsche does not built the 911 for drag racing either. There is more to life than living it a 1/4 mile at a time. As I have said before, I work for a BMW dealer, the Z4 is a great car that is faster and also has more room in and cost more by upto 10K more. It's all about cubic $'s if you have it.

I keep hearing about the S2K not being a drag car, but what car is made to be a drag car? The WRX Sti is faster than an S2K, can handle almost as well, and can carry 4 other people in the car and a pile of groceries too. And the WRX was not made to be a drag car either.

I totally agree. Honda has earned respect for being innovative, for build quality, for wonderful engines, for CART success, for F-1 success, for being "green", BUT it has NOT earned respect in the world sportscar market. Porsche has over and over, Ferrari has over and over, Viper has over and over. Other than the JDM scene only Cunningham's NSX has flown the colors. Well folks, one car and one race team by themselves is not going to earn the kind of respect many S2000 owners are looking for when they do the name dropping game...."I own an S2000!" These owners will get respect from knowledgeable automobile lovers. Hell, I've had Porsche 911 owners stop to tell me how much they love the S2000 and how they wish Porsche had stuck to their roots and built it. But the gang at the office is not going to be anywhere near as informed. That's just the way it folks.

<ducking and hiding from the WRX contingent>

True dat. If the WRX Sti didn't look like instant rice, I would be in line to buy one.

From my experiences, the few true car entusiasts I have run inot know and respect the S2000 for what it is.

Most ordinary people that I run into on the streets, gas stations and stop lights all tell me how nice my car is or how fast it looks.

The only peolpe I've had problems with are these damn hillbilly redneck whatever you want to call them who think that it's all about hp and tq. They seem to think that if it doesn't have a V8 and handle like a boat then it's a POS. I could really care less of what these people think.

I've driven novas with 454s shoved in them, a 12 sec Roadrunner, my Moms boyfriends TransAm which I can't seem to get going without spinning the tires and none of them have ben as fun to drive as the S.
