Protocol for starting after car sat for 6 months
Well, one thing after another and my 2000 S2000 with 51,000 miles on it, sat in the garage for 6 months. I never started it during that period. Battery is dead.
I was thinking, shouldn't I spray some oil through the sparkplug port to lubricate the cylinders and piston before cranking it?
Any quick thoughts by folks who know what they're talking about?
Thanks.

Charge the battery and start it. I've been storing cars for the winter since 1979. I change the oil in the fall, trickle charge the battery over the winter, and start it up in the spring. Never had an issue.

Thank you fellas. I thought about it, popped the hood, figured it'd be a lot of work to spritz a bit of oil in the cylinders, so I just called AAA and fired her up.
Drove for about an hour, figured the battery was charged (it's less than a year old), came to a stop and the car stalled. CLick, Click, Click ...
So, AAA again. This guy found that the battery cable closest to the firewall wouldn't tighten against the battery post. He persuaded it with a hammer.
After another hour, I took it up to 8,000 rpm, felt a chimp like smile spread from ear to ear, took it home and gave it a wash and wax.
I'm happy again. I have a trickle charger but didn't read the fine print ... it's good for motorcycles, and vintage cars (??). I'll hope for the best.
Thanks again everyone. It's been a while.

would i need to change the oil if my car still has just over 600miles on it? it has also been stored for about 6 months with the original break in oil.

Yes, yesterday, I held it down to 8000 rpm.
Today, after an oil change, and a long cruise with the Pacific Ocean over my right shoulder, I banged a few 9000 rpm shifts. I couldn't understand what my Iranian friend was saying for a while. I think he was saying something about "Apollo 11."
Sure felt good. What a nice car.
