Public Parking Thread
Ryan:
Here in Oklahoma, I am seeing fewer and fewer every day. You need to find a good deal on one and grab it. I have driven about every performance car there is, have a couple of Mercedes in my garage (one a roadster), and I will tell you that the s2k is about the last true sports car left on earth. I would sell you my mint '01 AP1 with 33K on the ODO, except they will have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands (wait a little while, at my age it could happen). In the next year or so, we are moving to Colorado, and seeing all of the "twisties" there, I can't wait to go screaming through them. Don't become an old man like me and wishing what you should have done. Just go for it.
Yeah, about how some women regard their vehicles, I must mention that one of my wife's friends (female) asked me to vacuum out her van, because I happen to have a very high powered shop vac. I opened the door and told her "I can't because I can't find the floorboards and carpeting because of all the junk you've got in here!" I know that some women gripe because you left you car mag on the floor in the house, but yet treat the interior of a car as if it were the garbage can. Advice from an old man -- avoid those women.

Here in Canada S2k's go for tousands more than in the states. It was a MY00 Berlina with black interior with 135,000kms(over 80,000 miles) and he wanted 13,500CAD, which is like 13,000USD.
I plan on buying on in the next 6-8 months because I start working again after my trip to Toronto.
Can't ****** wait!

If you have to park next to someone, four door is better than two (door length), and on passenger side. I fold in the mirror to raise awareness to other people to be careful around the car.
Also I don't agree that folding in your mirror is going to help. In fact I think it will make it more likely for someone getting out of their car to brush down the side of your door with their riveted jeans because the mirror being left out is a kind of barrier to keep people at least that far from your car when walking by otherwise they would hit the mirror. I'd rather them bump my mirror than scratch the entire door.
Personally I always park the S2000 on a curb or far from other cars. No dings in 4 years of ownership so far.
I am a victim of friend damage. Once my good friend was leaning/sitting on my fender and I was worried at first but then figured nothing will become of it, its cool. Once he got up I heard a scary thump. The top of the fender flattened out at the top where it curves.

I would never do this. A few months ago I went to a restaurant for takeout and three 350z's were lined up parked sideways taking up 4 or 5 spots. When I came back out, someone had keyed "U R"-"D"-"BAGS" across them...
Am glad I am not alone in being anal on how i park my car. Hehe
I only park next to a kerb or pillar and practically hug it so the car parked next to mine will have less chance to ding my door.
I never ever park between 2 cars ...
