Yep, don't sit on, or lean against, your s2k. They seem to get dents from this easier than some other cars.
Whenever I tell people not to lean on my car, they seem to get offended. I don't care, though. I'd rather not have damage on my car

Yes, don't' let people lean on your S2k. I got an indentation in my rear fender leaning on it cleaning the rear window. The sheet metal on these cars isn't as dent resistant as that on other cars, to my personal observation. Perhaps it is an intentional design matter to keep down weight. But whatever the cause, it is a factor.

Also, when choosing a parking spot, avoid those where the front of your car is tilting down hill. This will make the doors of your car, and those parked next to it, tend more to swing into the neighboring car. Instead, if you can find a spot where your car (and the neighboring cars) are pointed uphill, that's good. It makes it difficult for doors to swing out against other cars.

So I went to lowes earlier today and the lot was pretty empty but I still parked far and with my passenger side on a curb. Came out to find a town car parked on the line next to me... I may or may not have accidentally left a loogie on his rear passenger door handle.

It's funny how he parked RIGHT NEXT TO THE DAMN LINE.

Town cars = old people, hence why the dude obviously couldn't see the lines and can't park his boat.

I just treat it like a regular car. If it gets dinged, thats what PDR guys are for. That said, I don't really go shopping.

i dont understand this logic. if you can walk an extra 30 seconds to help protect something you own, or park in a "safer" spot, why not? i think for me its less about whether the car is an exotic or not and more about pride in ownership, i guess less and less people have that now. or maybe people are really just so lazy that they would rather risk having their car look like crap than walk an extra 30 seconds, or have to think about where to park.

i wash my clothes regularly and keep them looking good. not because they are crazy expensive designer clothes, but because i enjoy not having myself or my belongings look like crap.

I used to own a 2009 Fit Sport...I'd park it anywhere, next to anything. It was so utilitarian that protecting it seemed irrelevant; the interior was far more important than the exterior.

If my boyfriend and I were out in his S2000 though...yeah...we were parking in the parking lot equivalent of BFE. I didn't really understand that until I got my S2K a couple months ago. Sooo now, the rules are:

I carry a big bag of broken glass and scatter it around the spaces to either side. Then I place orange cones in the next spaces over. Next I throw a few empty shotgun shells around the tires. And for the final touch I place fake, but real looking road kill on the hood. When finished, I run around the car 13 times screaming, "I kill you!" This is my short routine for parking at places like church. The long version, for places like Kroger, begins with inflatable women, but kids may see this so I'll leave that story for later... I've only been arrested a couple dozen times over the past few weeks, but there isn't a single ding in my car!
