I don't think there are enough S2ks out there for the public to form an image of the typical S driver. Most people are surprised that Honda makes a roadster. Actually, most people can't tell the difference between the S and a Miata.

This is not a car for the image conscious - on either end.

Many of the same "punk kids" buy a used S, only to find that, "Holy crap, I got beat by a Civic hatch with a K20 (or b18)!!!"

The car that makes you smile like a mutha is the right car for you.

Maybe it's the way Im reading your post, b/c I have already labeled you as "another one of them"

but it seems to me as if your trying to get us to beg you to by an S2000. And from the 3 options you have in your original post it seems like you know how everyone is going to respond. So why even make the post to begin with? To start a fest? There are plenty of those, just search.

99% Of owners I have met are some of the best people I know. There are always going to be younger people owning sports cars, today parents are buying kids Vette's, Porches, EVO 8's, M3's, S's etc for a 16 y/o's birthday gift. It's a shame that I wasn't one of them.....

Sounds to me that you should attend a couple of meets in your area to see for yourself, and meet the real people, not set and guess at a computer screen.

I guess I should clarify. I care less about what other people think about the car (or me) vs. what I think about it. What I think about it is going to be influenced by what I see. If I buy an S and all I see are kids in S's with big exhaust tips then that's going to change how I feel about the car.

What do you think of when I say porsche, camero, mustang, pinto.. I bet you have an instant mental category that you put each one into. Some of how you judge it is marketing, some of it is performance, and some of it is whether a guy driving one cut you off. It starts not to matter whether the car performs or not if you're not happy when you put the key in the door.

If you really want an UNbiased opinion of how S2000 drivers appear to the rest of the world, you should try posting the same question in another forum

Of course, once again under the "If these things really matter to you" caveat.

The bigger question of course, is not what other people think of S2000 drivers, but perhaps why you are leaving a $30,000 choice in the hands of people with nothing better to do at work than bang away at a keyboard?

Wow, a bit insecure, are we? Even if EVERY single S2k's around me were sporting coffee can exhausts and double decker wings, driven by young punks, I'd still have my S. You actually didn't need to clarify yourself at all. We pretty much had it pin-pointed--you're image conscious. Seriously, get an M roadster. I think you'll be much happier.

But remember, it's not how you feel about the car, but how the car makes YOU feel.

I'm curious to know your definition of a punk kid. I'm 21 and own my own S that I worked damn hard for. It should make no difference if a 16 yr. old ricer kid drives an S or not. YOU buy the car so YOU should be the only decision maker.

The S is the natural progression to the kids who jumped on the Honda bandwagon and bought the civics, preludes and accords. It works out that the average punk-ass kid wants an S cause that is the pinnacle of what he feels is automotive nirvana. Dont let this stop you from experincing this car. The image you portray is your own. I'm 35 have a wife and 2 kids, own my own homeand even manage to hold down a job and I drive an S. Not for what the car represents, but just for what it is. You know what? Sometimes I even wear my hat backwards, too.
