Punked a Boxster
Guess I will jump in here, since everyone else has
My general take on things is that you do what you like provided you dont endanger others... I dont know what the traffic was like, so I cant comment on if your action was smart or stupid... keep in mind that if you were doing this and ran into the back of me, I'd break out the big stick first and ask questions later
As for the Boxster... I have a friend that has a 97 Boxster. He got one of the first ones to hit the streets... why did he buy it? For the open air fun... Not because its a Porsche, not to race it, but simply to enjoy the thrill of top down motoring... You could pull up to him in a Geo Metro or a Ferrari 550 Maranello, and he wouldnt race you either way...
bottom line is that while a lot of S2K owners bought their cars for the performance, a lot of Boxster owners DIDNT! There is something to be said about being the "first" on the block... To many people, thats more important than things like 0-60, etc... they like the look of the car and owning something unique (until everyone else gets one!)...
Also, curious why you challenged the Boxster, but ignored the M3... the M3 is closer in performance to the S2000. And you never know, he might have had a turbo or supercharged 95 and would have handed you your lunch...
also, you said:
And, for those of you who don't think being 23 and owning an S2K isn't young, then what did you drive when you were that age, (what 50-60 years ago ahahah) If I wanted an accord, I would've bought an accord.
Well, I payed for (in cash) a 99 Corvette at the age of 24... whats your point? Many people think I stepped down (in raw acceleration, I did)...
you're going to get some flak from everyone now matter where you post... I guess you just cant let it bother you. There are people who just dont have the same ideas you do, and thats just a fact of life...
BTW, I had 1600miles on my Vette when I did my first track day... no ill effects, and you get a lot of craziness out of your system... makes you a lot more tame on the street... After all, whats better than getting out-run in a straight line, but getting all over them in the turns
do the track day, you wont regret it... its not expensive (certainly not any more expensive than if you mess up on the street!)...
After track day, you might find that you dont need to drive it like you stole it
stepping off my soapbox now
