For what it's worth, the S2000 was not mass produced. It was actually hand assembled.

For what it's worth, Honda made over 100k S2000s. That's a mass produced car to me.

Gets real fun at my house, I have to turn on the key and then push the start button on my S2000 and turn the key off to stop the engine. My 2015 no key to turn on just push the start button to start and push it to stop. Of course what is really funny is when my wife has to drive one of my cars, she has a Tesla and you have no start button just step on the brake and the car turns on, put it in park and get out and it turns off. She had a loaner car and forgot to turn the engine off.

We were talking about Azdancers: "Wifey's IS250 F-Sport has this keyless FOB", end quote.

No fob or the battery is dead? Put the key in the door.

Chuck, we were talking about some new Lexus which have no metal portion (old school key) to their FOBs. No old school lock on door to open.

I do not consider 100,000 cars built over a ten year span mass production by automotive standards. Nissan built 74,000 300ZX cars in 1984. Toyota has the capacity to make 500,000 Camry's for the United States alone.

I don't believe all were hand built, only AP1's and maybe a few early 2004's. For the volume, I'd definitely consider it "mass produced". If there were only 2000 S2000's in the world, then that's different story.

I can pull up Autotrader or CL and there are always a ton for sale, hard to find clean versions but not hard cars to buy.
