Hi,

I have a big favor to ask you guys. I'm a key
stroke away from ordering the RM Racing
slotted rotors. For me, this would be purely
to get rid of corrosion on the factory parts.

Can somebody say from experience of using
similar rotors that they really won't rust
even after driving in rains and washes?
Is this true about the whole rotor, or
will the surface that makes contact with the
brakes still collect rust. What's silver
cad plating??

I never got a reply from RM Racing about
this, so this makes me wonder. I know I can
count on people here.

Regards!

Cad plating is a process where the rotor has cadmium, zinc, or some other coating applied and then heat bonded to the metal (I am not a plating expert so I know little about all the variations in materials and process).

The bottom line is the iron rotors are covered with a anti rust / corrosion plating that can be different colors, silver, gold, black, etc. Where the plating is intact the rotor will not rust.

The swept area of the rotor is worn down a bit with every brake application so the shiny iron shows.. except when it gets wet, then it rusts. No big deal, just apply the brakes and the rust is gone.
