I heard the S2000 wasn't intended to have the ABS but they put it on because it was going to America. But the ABS is not supposed to be very intrusive and comes in later then the ABS in an Accord.

The "feel" of any ABS system is directly dependant upon the road surface you are attempting to use it on. If you engage the ABS while on hard-packed snow or ice (I had to do this recently when I was forced to drive my S2000 during the winter) the driver will notice the pulsation in the brake pedal, but a passenger may be oblivious, unless he/she hears the system cycling. Using ABS on dry, warm pavement will typically be much more obvious as the traction is far greater.
I think your friend with the Porsche either doesn't have ABS, or isn't engaging it.

The ABS on the S2000 is awesome, very quiet, smooth, and friends in the car never notice if it goes off unless i tell them....now, the ABS in my tahoe is freakin scary!!! Wierd noises, lights dimming, truck lurching like a drunkard dry heaving.....its a riot! The last time i used it, i think i got whip lash!

Thanks everyone for the info. Hopefully I'll get to try it out myself sometime in the near future. As for my friend's Porsche, I'll have to ask a few more questions.
One things for sure, there is DEFINATELY no ABS on my 98 Civic. Of course I new this when I bought it years ago, but I proved it last week as I put two black streaks on my street as some B!#$% ran a stop sign in my neighborhood. I didn't panic, but I did end up leaving skidmarks (and not just on the road, lol) by the time I stopped the car, and I couldn't have been doing more than 25mph to begin with. The woman just never looked, and never broke stride. Had the pavement been wet, I'da t-boned her. The woman got an earful that children should NEVER hear. Sorry for the rant. I know it doesn't fit here, but I'm STILL pissed. I mean there WAS a stop sign.

I've done it in a wet parking lot before. I've also done it on dry pavement by gradually pressing harder and harder (as you're supposed to when you do not have ABS), although, usually the ABS won't engage. Trying it a couple of times will give you a good sense of how the brakes operate so that there's no surprises in an emergency. I don't typically drive a car with ABS, and it's been a few years since I've tried it, so others may have more input. One very important suggestion: CHECK THE REAR VIEW BEFORE YOU DO (just in case).
