Default Question about stock radio

Ok well my stock radio is really pissing me off. I have a 05 Ap2 stock radio and for some reason it won't play burned CD's I make. The funny thing is that I have a couple of CD's that are burned and they play, but when I make them now it doesn't work. The CD's are the same brand and same CD as the ones that work. So I don't understand what the problem is. I don't think it is my burner either because i stick the CD's that dont work into a CD player and it works fine. Does anyone know what may be going on?

The CD's I am using are Maxell CD-R 80 min 700mb compact disc recordable

I am also using iTunes to burn the CD's. I was reading in search that burning them at a slower speed may help. Ill let you all know if that works.

My guess is that one disc is an mp3 disk, and the one that does play is burnt in .wav.

In my experience, the burnt cd's have been very tempermental in my player, some take 2 minutes to load up and play, others start as soon as you put them in.

I think it all comes down to the quality of the actual hardware device making the disc, i.e. the burner.

So I have some input on this.

Mp3 CDs do not play in any S2000 stock radios unfortunately. Also, if the CD is a newer 80min CDR or CDRW, it will not play "well". It may play sometimes, but it will fail and/or skip at some point, or maybe not play at all. The older 74 minute CDRs play just fine.

The spacing of the actual recordable/readable area on the 80min CDR is quite a bit smaller, giving our OEM radios a tougher time to read. Try getting some older 74 min CDs instead.

I fixed my own problem. The CD-R 80min 700mb disc works, but don't burn the disc at max speed. I think when it does this it makes a lot of errors or something. I put the speed all the way down to 8X and it works!!! Now I can enjoy my music!! YAY!!! So if you have this problem burn the CD slow around 8X and it should work.

The CD burner uses a laser to burn tiny holes in the mylar layer of the CD. The faster you spin the disc during a write, the less time it has to burn a hole, so you get a less clean data bit stored on the disc. Newer drives and writers are designed with this in mind, so they can generally cope with it. Basic car CD players generally aren't. Burning at a slower speed gets a cleaner burn, so it's more likely these players can read a disc produced at slow speed.

Just get an aftermarket deck. They are very affordable. Since OEM doesn't even play damn MP3 format, you can burn like max 15ish songs on a CD. Pretty sad. I never had any problems you encountered though.
